Flute J.A. Jayant
J.A. Jayant is a Carnatic flute exponent of national and international repute, born into a musical family and drawn into the Indian classical tradition from earliest childhood. His grandmother, the late Vidushi V.S. Sundari, grounded him in vocal music by the age of four, while his grandfather and guru, the late Kalaimamani Flute T.S. Sankaran, introduced him to the bamboo flute at the age of five.
He went on to become a prime disciple of the legendary Flute Mali, becoming a torchbearer of the Flute Mali style of Carnatic flute playing – and is today a Sangeet Natak Academy awardee, affectionately known as Flute Jayant by thousands.
With over 2000 solo and jugalbandi performances across the globe, Jayant has enthralled audiences at renowned venues including the Madras Music Academy, the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C., the Darbar Festival in the UK, and many more across the United States, France, Germany, Switzerland, Australia and beyond.
We are proud to welcome Flute J.A. Jayant to the JoMaJoMusic family. A first collaborative release with Martin Jourdan is currently in the works – stay tuned.
